I once read that Matthew McConaughey wanted to be a lawyer before he became an actor and "The Sexiest Man Alive". From what I've seen in "A Time to Kill" and now, "The Lincoln Lawyer" he could have easily been one. Or, do an actor's greatest roles come from what they know best?
"The Lincoln Lawyer" is the story of a barrister who specializes in getting the obviously guilty out of their predicaments on much lesser charges. He is no saint himself as he is chauffeured around in a Lincoln Town Car which, though not explained fully, is the result of a DUI charge. His marriage failed although it was evident that there was still so much love and respect between he and his EX.....Marisa Tomei. You saw him as a loving father and devoted friend.
Enter rich boy Ryan Plillippe who faces an assault charge and requests the services of the Lincoln Lawyer which, was a world away from the clients he was used to. There were lots of interesting characters made possible by the talents of William H. Macy, Josh Lucas, John Leguizamo, Frances Fisher and, Bryan Cranston. I really liked Laurence Mason as the chauffeur.
The plot was sophisticated and a true "Who Done It?". Definitely worth the time and money.
